The Why?

The Why?

Problem

Emerging Nepali artists face significant challenges in gaining recognition. Platforms like Spotify and YouTube provide visibility but often lack localized support and the ability to highlight raw, authentic talent. This creates a gap in discoverability, making it harder for artists to connect with an audience eager for diverse, grassroots music.

Solution

Record addresses this problem by creating a dedicated platform for Nepali artists to upload and share their music, with features tailored to local needs. The interface encourages creativity through simple recording tools and offers event management options to foster community engagement.

Impact

This was a project done to demonstrate the process of time-boxing design thinking in under 24 hours and was used as a material for the class to facilitate MVP, style guides and the design thinking process.

Impact

This was a project done to demonstrate the process of time-boxing design thinking in under 24 hours and was used as a material for the class to facilitate MVP, style guides and the design thinking process.

The How?

Design Process

The project followed a time-boxed design thinking approach:

  1. Empathize: Conducted interviews with four participants to gather insights about music discovery habits and challenges.

  2. Define: Identified key user needs, such as raw music uploads and personalized discovery tools.

  3. Ideate: Brainstormed features like a "Discover" section and artist-focused events.

  4. Prototype: Developed low-fidelity sketches, refining them into a high-fidelity prototype with culturally resonant themes.

  5. Test: Gathered feedback through peer reviews and usability sessions.

User Interviews

The interviews revealed that users prefer discovering artists in spaces where authenticity is celebrated, such as raw music uploads and community-driven platforms. They expressed a desire for tools that promote unpolished talent over heavily commercialized content.

Moodboard

The tight timeline required rapid iteration and prioritization of features. Balancing cultural relevance with modern UI standards was challenging but achieved through iterative testing and feedback.

Good to haves VS Must haves

Analyzing global platforms like Spotify and YouTube highlighted their limitations for emerging markets like Nepal. These insights informed Record’s focus on community building and cultural integration.

The What?

Project Outcome

The final prototype showcased a sleek, intuitive interface with a dedicated "Discover" section, artist profiles, and event management tools. The visual design incorporated a vibrant color palette inspired by Nepali culture, with gradients and typography reflecting local aesthetics.

Project Status

Completed as part of the UI/UX crash course.
